Construction Craft Laborer
The skill of the Construction Craft Laborer is one of the most diverse in the industry. It requires classroom instruction and hands on training.
The Construction Class Laborer is often the first craft on the project and the last to leave. The type of work performed will depend on the knowledge,
skill level and the type of work needed at a job site. You may build and repair roads, highwas, bridges, tunnels, construct residential and commercial
buildings, clean up hazardous waste sites or perform other types of work. Additional tasks may include: drilling, blasting, building scaffolding, preparing
and cleaning up a job site, laying pipe underground, placing concrete, flagging and controlling traffic on roadways, wrking with other crafts and
much more.
Length of Program
Apprenticeship requires 4,000 hours of well diversified on the job training and no less than 432 hours of related instructional classes.
Working Conditions
Construction Craft Laborers are exposed to all weather conditions. Sometimes they are called upon to perform work at heights and also depths, sometimes hundreds
of feet underground on tunnels, subways and storage reservoirs.
Requirements
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age, posses a diploma or GED, driver's license and pass a drug test. Applicants must be physically able to perform
work of the trade. A written assessment will be administered to all applicants.
